Imagine Tee

Jonathan Horowitz’s work explores the oppositionary constructs that define contemporary culture and politics.
The two-sided Imagine T-shirt, designed by Jonathan Horowitz for DIS, is an expression of how a utopian sentiment is complicated by political reality. With militant fervor, many Palestinians believe already that there is no Israel, and many Israelis — in accordance with official government doctrine — believe that there is no Palestine. In fact, some Israelis claim that there is no such thing as a Palestinian person.
While political slogans typically aim to clearly communicate a single stance, the Imagine T-shirt provokes debate on an issue for which often times no single stance seems adequate.
We thank all of those who have built a discussion regarding the complex politics of the Imagine T-shirt, and encourage the conversation to continue both online and off.
All proceeds from this shirt will be donated to Physicians for Human Rights-Israel, a non-profit, non-governmental organization that believes in the power of the Israeli medical community to struggle against human rights violations, torture in particular, and supports the view that Israel’s prolonged occupation over Palestinian territory is the basis of human rights violations.
DIS has commissioned artists to design T-shirts that raise crisis awareness. Limited!
